Repeat Prescriptions over holiday period

During the Christmas and New Year holiday period the Practice will be closed on the 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 31st December 2005 and 1st, 2nd January 2006. Please hand in your repeat prescription requests in plenty of time, to ensure that you do not run out of your medication over the Christmas and New Year period.


Changes to Blood Clinics

The Practice Blood Clinic (appointment only) has now changed its times to 11.30 am to 12.30 pm, Monday to Friday. The Essex County Hospital Blood Clinic is now Monday, 8.30 am to 1.45 pm and Tuesday to Friday, 8.30 am to 12.45 pm.


Community Transport Service

A Community Transport Scheme and/or Social Car Scheme is a non-profit making system of providing transport for its members. Some of the criteria for becoming a member are restricted mobility, living in isolated areas not served by public transport or for temporary mobility problems. The local Service is provided by Colchester CVS and is based at 15 Queen Street, Colchester, CO1 2PH. Tel.01206 505257, Fax 01206 500367.
Social Car Scheme
Open to any resident in Colchester who meets the membership criteria, who cannot access public transport. They have two wheelchair accessible minibuses as part of this scheme. Two working days notice is required for bookings. For up-to-date fare charges and advice contact the above telephone number.
Chariots
Available for local not for profit Organisations to enable their members to attend social clubs and go on group trips. For help and advice on costs please contact us directly on the above telephone number.
Operating Times
Social Car Scheme and Minibus Scheme operate subject to a driver and vehicles being available.
Bookings: Monday to Friday, 09.00-1300. Office hours: Monday to Friday, 09.00-16.30.

Expert Patient Programme

For those patients living with a long term health condition, you can improve your quality of life by attending a free Expert Patients Programme. Self-management for all the family, helping you to move from ‘Patient’ to ‘Person’. Each Programme consists of 6 weekly 2.5 hour sessions. The Colchester ME Self Help Group

Formed in 1990, a registered charity who serve ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) sufferers, their family and friends. Also a group affiliate of the National Charity Action for ME. On joining, new members receive an information pack about ME and thereafter a quarterly newsletter. Meetings are held regularly, having guest speakers ranging from Specialist Consultants to complimentary medical practitioners.
