Smoke Free England

England will be smoke free on the 1.7.07, ensuring that public places and workplaces are healthier environments to work and socialise in. 1.7 million employers in England will receive guidance and no smoking signs in April and local Councils will be providing businesses with support and advice about the smoke free law. A survey of 1,084 businesses in England and 1,726 members of the public showed that 74% of the overall population support the legislation. Additional findings include 65% of the population say that the legislation will not affect how often they go to the pub, 15% say they will go to the pub more often and 75% believe that going smoke free will have a positive effect on health. The smoke free law will make it illegal to smoke indoors in places such as pubs, bars, nightclubs, cafes, restaurants and more. Smoking indoors at work will not be allowed and public transport will be smoke free as well.
Smokers who want to quit can receive advice and support by calling the NHS Smoking Helpline on 0800 169 0 169 or visiting the website.
Or you can speak to a Nurse or Doctor to receive smoking cessation advice and support here at the Surgery.
