Diabetes Tests

You may have noticed the posters on bus shelters and in the media encouraging patients over the age of 45 to have a test for diabetes. If you have not had this test done already, or you are not sure if you have had it done speak to reception. They will check your records and if you have not had a test for diabetes done recently they will give you a form to arrange a test. The test for diabetes is a simple blood test which ideally is done after an 8 hour fast- that means nothing to eat or drink apart from water for 8 hours before the test.
