NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme
The new NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme is being rolled out in this area and those in the eligible group will be offered screening this year. The NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme offers screening every two years to all men and women aged 60 to 69. (People age 70 and over can call a freephone helpline on 0800 707 60 60 to request a test kit) How will the screening process work?
Men and women eligible for screening will receive an invitation letter explaining the programme and an information leaflet entitled Bowel Cancer Screening - The Facts. About a week later, an FOB test kit will be sent out along with step-by-step instructions for completing the test at home and sending the samples to the hub laboratory. The test will then be processed and the results sent within two weeks. Swine Flu
Prevention
There's a simple way to remember this:
CATCH IT. BIN IT. KILL IT.
To reduce the risk of catching or spreading the virus you should:
cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, using a tissue
throw the tissue away quickly and carefully,
wash your hands regularly with soap and water and
clean hard surfaces (like door handles and remote controls) frequently with a normal cleaning product. Remember -following this advice also prevents the spread of colds and seasonal flu also. To see a video version of this advice see Catch it, Bin it, Kill it.(http://www.nhs.uk/video/pages/medialibrary.aspx?Page=1&Filter=&Id={BFDE6027-5A36-4C38-934C-9C380DC66F13}&Tag=Infections+and+viruses&Uri=video%2f2009%2fJanuary%2fPages%2fSneezing.aspx) For further information about swine flu see Swine Flu- Everything you need to know (Directgov) (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Swineflu/DG_177831?CID=SFlu&TYPE=sponsoredsearch&CRE=2)
