FLU CLINICS The Practice will be running Flu Vaccination Clinics in November on the following dates:
Those eligible for a flu vaccination are patients aged 65 and over, or if you suffer from any of the medical conditions listed below as you will fall into one of the risk groups.
It is going to be a very busy couple of days at the Surgery and we would ask that all patients who can park their car elsewhere to do so, as we are limiting the car parking facility for those patients who are disabled only. CHANGE TO BABY CLINICS The Health Visiting Service will no longer be running the Baby Clinics at the Surgery every Friday. This has now changed to every second and fourth Friday of the month between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm (walk-in), ie for October this will be the 13th and the 27th October 2006. Other local Clinics can be found at the St Edmunds Centre on Tuesdays, 10.00 am to 12.00 noon and St Anne’s Church Hall in Compton Road on Wednesdays, 10.00 am to 12.00 noon. ST HELENA HOSPICE PSYCHO-SOCIAL SUPPORT SERVICE As a Specialist Unit the St Helena Hospice has a multi-disciplinary team, which can provide the expertise needed by patients, where complex psychological and spiritual needs cannot be met from more generalised services or within the family. Specialist psycho-social support is available to families and patients in need of advice and information on the social and emotional problems arising from a progressive and terminal illness. Emotional support is offered to families experiencing distress, confusion and conflict when faced with issues of care, loss and impending bereavement. This can include liaison with other community and hospital services that may be available to patients and families. Specialist support is provided to young children and their parents coping with the prospective loss of a parent or close family member. Complex psycho-social issues can occur when there are concurrent issues affecting a family, such as dependant children who may not be aware of the severity of the parent’s illness, concomitant illnesses within the family, divorce/separation, additional bereavements within the past 18 months, retirement/redundancy and drug/alcohol issues. In addition, a specialist grief support programme known as the ‘Stars Programme’ is available for bereaved children and their parent. THE MIGRAINE TRUST ‘TACKLING MIGRAINE TOGETHER’ The Migraine Trust are holding a workshop in Colchester aimed at people with migraine, their families and carers. The day will give people the opportunity to listen to a range of presentations from experts in the field and take part in smaller question and answer sessions with the experts. The Tackling Migraine Together Workshop will take place on Saturday, 14th October 2006 at the Colchester Garrison Officers Club, St Johns Green, Colchester, CO2 7EZ, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
