New Staff

We welcome 3 new members of staff to the Practice:
  • Dr Ameer Khan, GP Registrar Trainee, who will be with the Practice for one year under the supervision of Dr Faerestrand, GP Trainer
  • Claire who has joined the Reception & Admin Teams
  • Sally who has joined the Reception Team

Flu Clinics

The Practice will be running Flu Vaccination Clinics on two dates in October/November on a Saturday morning.
  • Saturday, 27th October 2007, 8.00 am to 12.00 pm
  • Saturday, 10th November 2007, 8.00 am to 12.00 pm
No appointment is necessary, just turn up to one of the above Clinics within the specified times and book in at Reception.

Those eligible for a flu vaccination are patients aged 65 and over, or if you suffer from any of the medical conditions listed below, as you will fall into one of the risk groups:
  • Chronic Respiratory Disease (asthmatics taking regular preventative medication)
  • Chronic Heart Disease
  • Chronic Kidney Disease
  • Chronic Liver Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Weak immune system
In addition to those aged 65 and over and those in the at risk groups, the Department of Health also recommends that Healthcare Workers are vaccinated to help protect themselves and their patients. People living or working in nursing or residential homes should be vaccinated. Also, if you are a home-based carer of someone who needs vaccinating, you too should discuss flu vaccination with your Practice Nurse.

It is going to be a very busy couple of mornings at the Surgery and we would ask that all patients who can park their car elsewhere to do so, as we are limiting the car parking facility for those patients who are disabled only.

Haemophilus Influenzae Type B (Hib) Vaccine: Catch up Vaccination Programme pdf file symbol

The Hib Vaccination Catch-up Programmepdf file symbol will commence on the 10th September 2007 and will run until the 3rd March 2009. If your child was born between the 13th March 2003 and 3rd September 2005 (who will be aged between 2 years old and 4 years & 5 months old at the start of the campaign) they will probably need an extra immunisation. A catch-up campaign is being organised so your child can get the extra protection they need to protect them against the diseases caused by Hib infection, such as blood poisoning (septicaemia), meningitis and pneumonia. For most children this booster will be given at the same time as their routine pre-school immunisation, so a separate appointment will not be required. A leaflet is available from the Surgery which briefly describes the Hib disease and the vaccine that is being used to protect against it, it also explains why your child is being offered this extra protection and what you need to do to make sure your child doesn’t miss out on the immunisation.
